When should you consult?

If you notice spots on your teeth or if you experience pain or sensitivity to cold/hot, consider consulting a dentist, as it could be cavities or a more serious issue.

If left untreated in its early stages, a cavity can progress to reach the dentin, leading to sensitivity to hot and cold, which can become severe and cause significant pain for the patient.

To avoid the final stage, which is the permanent loss of a tooth, it is recommended to treat cavities as quickly as possible, and this should be done before they reach the pulp tissue, which can lead to an abscess; in this case, tooth extraction may be the only effective solution.

In these cases, time is the most important factor, which is why it is essential to react quickly.

How to prevent oral health problems?

Preventing dental problems is essential for maintaining good oral health. Here are some tips to prevent dental issues:

  • Regular brushing: Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably after meals, using a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Make sure to brush all surfaces of your teeth and your tongue to remove food particles and plaque.
  • Flossing: Use dental floss every day to clean between your teeth and below the gum line, where a toothbrush cannot reach. Flossing helps remove food particles and plaque, thereby reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease.
  • Balanced diet: Adopt a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and dairy products. Limit the consumption of foods high in sugar and starch, which can promote the formation of dental cavities.
  • Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco, as it can increase the risk of gum disease, tooth decay, tooth stains, and bad breath.
  • Regular visits to the dentist: Visit your dentist regularly for routine dental exams and professional cleanings. Regular visits help detect dental problems at an early stage and treat them before they become more serious.
  • Wear a mouthguard: If you participate in contact sports or grind your teeth at night, wear a mouthguard (e.g., dental retainers) to prevent dental injuries and damage caused by teeth grinding.

By following these prevention tips, you can reduce the risk of dental problems and maintain good oral health throughout your life.

Dévitalisation

Devitalization

The devitalization of a tooth, also known as endodontic treatment or root canal treatment, is a dental procedure that involves removing the infected or damaged pulp inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and then sealing them to prevent any reinfection. This procedure is typically performed to save a severely damaged or infected tooth, thereby avoiding its extraction.

Extraction des dents

Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction involves removing a tooth from its socket in the jawbone. This procedure may be necessary in cases of advanced tooth decay, severe dental infection (abscess), dental misalignment, orthodontic issues, dental trauma, or preparation for a dental prosthesis. It is performed under local anesthesia. After the extraction, it is important to follow post-operative instructions to promote quick healing and avoid complications.
